Frame Assembly
When
the components are ready, they are trucked to the job site and
pre-assembled at ground level before being lifted into place
by a crane. This can take as little as a day or as long
as
a week, depending
upon the complexity of the design. Normally the job site has been
prepared for the arrival of the main framing members, with foundation
and first floor subfloor having already been completed.
Successful timber frame assembly and raising are a result of well thought-out planning during the frame design. Even a simple timber frame has many components that are crafted to tight tolerances. Planning ahead of time how all the components will be pre-assembled and raised is critical to insure the assembly and raising process go smoothly.
