Northwest Timber
Frames
Fabrication
There
are basically two ways to have your timberframe fabricated. At
Northwest Timber Frames we pride ourselves in our ability to
hand cut your entire frame. With a hand cut frame, we choose each
timber for its location in the project and adjust the layout
to showcase the timber and minimize any imperfections. We use
our years of experience to fabricate all the joinery to be used
in your project. Square and scribe rule are the most used types
of layout that we use. Square rule is the ability to take any
timber whether it is twisted or warped and make the joinery turn
out precise by applying the principle of the perfect beam within.
In scribe rule we actually scribe from one piece to another.
This is often used when the customer wants round posts or live
edge beams in their projects. By using hand tools and a few specialized
timber framing machines we are able to produce your frame in
2-4 weeks depending
on the size and complexity of the project.
For
the more production oriented customer we have the ability to
cut our frames using a state of the art CNC machine. In this
process we take our 3-d model and using the latest technology
we can have all parts cut to exact tolerances. Using this method
gives us the flexibility to keep up with the most demanding schedules
for the customer.
